The local Tierra Grande chapter of Master Naturalists (TGMN) has announced the schedule for their 2011 training sessions. This year’s training incorporates some new locations and some new instructors.
Persons interested in participating in the 2011 program must complete an application form and send the $150 training fee before May 1, 2011. To obtain an application form, contact Steve Elfring at 432-364-2673 or email him at selfring@bigbend.net
Dates and sites for the 2011 TGMN Training are: June 11 Balmorhea; July 16 Alpine; July 29-31 Davis Mountains Preserve; August 21 CDRI; September 24 Balmorhea State Park, and ending at Big Bend Ranch State Park on October 28-30. An interpretative hike up Mount Livermore with some of the top biologists and botanists in the state is part of the training, as are interpretative hikes in BBRSP.
The training fee covers the cost of the training manual, many meals, snacks and coffee breaks, and lodging at Big Bend Ranch State Park. Likewise most meals, camping and a limited number of bunks are included at the Nature Conservancy’s Davis Mountain Preserve. The training will be limited to a maximum of 16 applicants, so if you are interested, apply early.
